May 2018 General Membership Meeting

Our May meeting will be held at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Inouye Regional Center (IRC) on Ford Island. You must register in advance for this event to gain access to Ford Island and the NOAA IRC. Please identify yourself as a valid Ford Island entry card holder or visitor on your registration.

Meeting Highlights:

  • Tour of the NOAA IRC facility
  • Presentation by Mr. Joshua Stanbro, Chief Resilience Officer & Executive Director of the City’s Office of Climate Change, Sustainability, and Resiliency

If you do not already have access to Ford Island with a valid military ID or entry pass, we must receive your Eventbrite registration and the personal information listed below no later than April 19th to process a visitor pass. You may include this information in your Eventbrite registration, or send separately via e-mail to empofhawaii@gmail.com.

EM Certification Webinar Series by IAEM

The Certification Webinar Series is a free program to assist candidates in obtaining their certification with IAEM.

The format for these webinars will be a 30 minute presentation followed by a 30 minute question and answer segment with Certification Commissioners.

Register through the IAEM website for the upcoming webinars (all scheduled to begin at 1:00 PM Eastern) :

·       April 11 – Training, Letters of Reference, Exam, Certification Fees

·       May 9 – Experience/Work History, Degree Documentation

·       June 13 – Professional Contributions

On-Demand recordings will be posted on the IAEM website after each webinar.

Call for Speakers for EMvision Talks (IAEM Annual Conference)

IAEM’s EMvision Talks are modeled on the well-known TED™ Talk format.The Talks provide a forum for people to share a personal connection to an idea, experience or passion related to emergency management, leadership, communication, community engagement, or other related topics

Talks are limited to 7-minutes and will be on the plenary stage on Tuesday, October 23, 2018 at the IAEM 66th Annual Conference in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
