EMP-HI is a professional organization for emergency managers that began as a dream of Toby Clairmont and Peter Hirai. That dream came true when they put their resources and hard work together and registered this organization as an official 501 (c)(6) Business League in January 2013, as “Emergency Management Professionals of Hawaii.” The first meeting was held on December 8, 2012 with 30 individuals in attendance.
The organization is dedicated to bringing education and networking opportunities to its members. For example, we offer training sessions to assist members in becoming a Certified Emergency Manager (CEM) or Associate Emergency Manager (AEM) through the International Association of Emergency Managers.
Our membership reaches out to anyone interested in the Emergency Management field. Students in the emergency management field are encouraged to join our organization.
Vision: EMP-HI shall strive to preserve life, property and the environment through effective collaboration and sharing best practices of the profession.
Mission: The mission of EMP-HI is to serve its members by providing information, networking and professional development opportunities; and to advance the emergency management profession.
