EMP-HI is a professional organization for emergency managers that began as a dream of Toby Clairmont and Peter Hirai. That dream came true when they put their resources and hard work together and registered this organization as an official 501 (c)(6) Business League in January 2013, as “Emergency Management Professionals of Hawaii.” The first meeting was held on December 8, 2012 with 30 individuals in attendance.
The organization is dedicated to bring education and networking opportunities to its members. For example, we offer training sessions to assist members in becoming an Associate Emergency Manager (AEM) or a Certified Emergency Manager (CEM) through the International Association of Emergency Managers.
Our membership reaches out to anyone interested in the Emergency Management field. Students in the emergency management field are encouraged to join our organization.
Vision: The Emergency Management Professionals of Hawaii (EMP-HI) will be a leading organization for the promotion and advancement of the emergency management profession within the state of Hawaii.
Mission: Our mission is to foster a close-knit community of emergency management professionals and provide a forum for the free exchange of ideas and shared experience in the field of emergency management. In addition to networking, EMP-HI connects members with ongoing educational opportunities, training sessions, and mentoring for individuals wishing to advance their careers and knowledge and promotes professional certification through the International Association of Emergency Managers (IAEM).
